Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
